Big Baby: Most Booed in Magic History
While we all try to figure out where Dwight is headed---IF he is headed outta town...Sez wants to zero in on an issue that has been festering for a while now.
It's the issue known as Glen Big Baby Davis.
Baby has struggled since his trade from Boston in December.
In turn, it's been a struggle for you to kinda wrap your arms around the guy.
Baby's issues are well-documented. He got into a scuffle with fans in Portland. He dropped trow in protest of a foul at Amway Center. He would be suspended for insubordination during a practice.
Not to mention, baby's grandmother and biological father both passed away all in a two week span.
This has been a very difficult year of adjustment for Baby.
And yet, on the Magic's recent five game roadie, we started seeing signs that Glen was starting to become that player we so desperately need.
He scored 12 points in Miami. He had 12 in Milwaukee, 16 in NJ, 6 in Atlanta and 12 in a win at Washington.
Things were looking up---until he got back home last Thursday night.
Baby would miss seven of his 8 shots in the loss to OKC--and you fans let him know about it.
For the last few weeks, Glen has been the object of the ole Bronx cheer in Orlando. You are booing...and he is listening. After every miss, Davis is raising his arms to the crowd, as if to say, go ahead, give me your best shot!
Davis is a very sensitive guy. He's emotional. Some would say he's a bit unstable.
Regardless, he's taken your reaction to heart and has gone into a shell on his home court.
Listen...I refuse to tell you NOT to boo. You are the ones who pay the high ticket prices. You have a voice. If you feel you are not getting the most out of the guy, so be it. Davis is making a boatload o' cash. His skin must get thicker.
Point is...I have seen most every game this team has ever played, and I don't remember a Magic player booed on a consistent basis more than Big baby.
Penny felt your wrath near the end of his Magic career. Doug Christie didn't make any friends here. Ike Austin got booed some. Brian Williams too.
But never have I seen, or heard, a Magic player booed more than Glen Davis.
Judging by the way he's responding, that does not bode well for Baby's future in Orlando.
