Summertime: The Magic’s Off-Season Plans

While the Magic season ended sooner than we all would have liked, the off-season will undoubtedly prove to be a time of rest, rejuvenation, change and excitement. See what the Magic men have planned for their down time...

Steve Francis
"Going home, not sure whether to Houston or Maryland."

Mario Kasun
"I'm going home to play for the National [Croatia] team."

Tony Battie
"My plans are to spend some time with my family back in Dallas. My grandmother, who is getting up there in age, she's about 85 now, she is not doing too well so, I'll probably spend a lot of time with my family."

Kelvin Cato
"I have no idea, I don't have any plans."

DeShawn Stevenson
"Get a lot of rest and workout. I'm going home to Fresno."

Grant Hill "I'm probably going to catch some playoff games some where. Right now we don't have any vacation trips planned but I'm sure we will do that before the summer is over."

In terms of basketball: "...I have to be careful – I am ready to jump in and start...I can't sit still. I know I need to take a little bit more time off, but just to workout, to cross-train or do various activities to stay in shape, which I plan on doing. And of course, getting on the court and working a little bit and working on some things – not killing myself, but I think as you get older, you have to learn to be efficient with your workouts. There is a thing of overtraining and doing too much, but also not doing enough, so you try to find that happy medium and that is what I am looking forward to starting to do. And not really doing all on the basketball court – playing tennis, riding a bike, jogging, doing a variety of different things and just sort of cross-training if that is the right term and preparing for next season."

Hedo Turkoglu
"I have a lot of plans for this summer. I am going to get married in June, go into the [Turkish] army in July, and play with the [Turkish] national team in the European championships after that. Then it will be October again and time for the season. It's going to be busy, but life is kind of busy."

Dwight Howard:
"My plans for the off season are to work on my game. I'll be going in between here and Atlanta. Me and my friends from high school are going to take a trip to Hawaii, and then I am going to Vegas for summer league."

Pat Garrity:
"I am going to be doing lots of rehab to get my knee ready for next season, playing a lot of X-Box and spending a lot of time with my new baby."

Brandon Hunter:
"I am going to be traveling everywhere this summer working with different people on my game. It's not fun having to sit on the bench, so I am going to work hard to get better."
