I slept like a rock. I slept good.
As I’ve talked about, every time I step on the floor I want to play hard. Getting my rest is important because now is the time for working hard.
Last night, I went and got something to eat at Boston Market, came back to the hotel and watched a little TV. Before you knew it, I was asleep.
It’s great to be around some of these guys – especially for me Shawn Kemp and Horace Grant. When I was younger I tried to pattern my game after Shawn. He was athletic and I was athletic.
I like Horace – and I never told him this – but I liked Horace because I wore goggles like he did when I was growing up. There weren’t that many people who wore goggles. I watched him and the Chicago Bulls a lot. The Bulls were winning and always on TV, he was wearing the goggles and he was just someone I could relate to. Don’t tell Horace I liked him because of the goggles (laughing!). I also wore No. 54, his number.
Once again at this morning’s practice, everyone was competing and it was intense. Every one came out and played hard.
We had a conditioning drill at the end of practice where we had to make 80 layups in two minutes. It was something I did in college. It takes everyone to run. We’re small, but we like to run and that’s one of our strengths.
