Orlando Magic Host African American Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours Event
January 9, 2008
ORLANDO, Fla. –In an effort to further demonstrate the organization’s commitment to the community, the Orlando Magic hosted the African American Chamber of Commerce’s monthly after-hours event at Amway Arena on Thursday, January 8.
The event was organized by the Magic’s Multicultural Insights Department, which was established in the summer of 2008 to create an inclusive environment in which employees, community partners and fans feel welcome, valued and appreciated.
“Tonight shows the commitment that the Orlando Magic has for being part of the community where it resides and understanding that this is an Orlando team,” said Dr. Robert Spooney, executive director of the chamber. “Our chamber and the relationship we have with the Orlando Magic is very, very valuable to us.”
The evening’s entertainment was eloquently provided by saxophonist Robert Crawford, who aside from music, proudly labored on the community’s new Events Center with True Power Electric.
“We are committed to creating opportunities that will positively impact every segment of our community,” said Orlando Magic Chief Operating Officer Alex Martins. “Through this commitment, we have developed enhanced relationships with chambers such as the African American Chamber.”
The Magic celebrates diversity and embraces its many characteristics and the value it brings to our business and community—understanding what can be accomplished when everyone works together to achieve legendary moments.
