Nets top the Bulls 84 - 68

Orlando, Fla. – In arguably his toughest summer-league match up thus far, New Jersey Nets center Brook Lopez shined.

The 7-foot center netted 23 points on 9-for-15 shooting as the Nets downed the Bulls, 84-68.

In defense of Chicago, Tyrus Thomas did not play, but Lopez was too much for Bulls big men Aaron Gray and Joakim Noah to handle. The tenth pick of the draft scored on a plethora of moves, including a 19-foot-fade-away jumper as the shot clock expired early in the fourth quarter.

The Nets got going early, jumping out to a 21-10 lead at the end of the first quarter, thanks to seven points from Lopez.

Chicago, also without guard Derrick Rose, who is resting a sore right knee, rebounded in the second quarter, outscoring the Nets 27-22. The Bulls headed to halftime trailing by six, 37-43.

The second half was much of the same for New Jersey: feed Lopez.

For the game, the Nets outscored the Bulls by 14 in the paint and pulled away in the second half, leading by as many as 20.

With just under four minutes to go in the game New Jersey guard Jaycee Carroll put the exclamation mark on the win with a thunderous fast-break dunk.

Demetris Nichols led Chicago with 15 points as the Bulls shot 2-for-15 from beyond the arc and committed 20 turnovers which led to 18 New Jersey points.

Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 15 points for the Nets.
