Magic Sign Jaren Jackson to 10-Day Contract
Orlando, FL - The Orlando Magic have signed guard Jaren Jackson to a 10-day contract, General Manager John Gabriel announced today. Jackson will be in uniform for Thursday’s game vs. Cleveland.
In addition, forward Jud Buechler has been placed on the Injured List with a low back strain. Buechler has played in 64 total games this season with Phoenix and Orlando, averaging 1.7 ppg. and 1.7 rpg. in 10.4 minpg.
Jackson (6’6”, 225, 10/27/67) has played in 422 career NBA games with eight different teams (New Jersey, Golden State, L.A. Clippers, Portland, Philadelphia, Houston, Washington, San Antonio), averaging 5.5 ppg., 1.8 rpg. and 1.2 apg. in 16.7 minpg. He has also played in 36 career NBA playoff outings, and helped the Spurs capture the 1998-99 NBA World Championship.
Not drafted by an NBA franchise, Jackson originally signed as a free agent by New Jersey in October of 1989. His best NBA season was 1997-98, when he played in all 82 regular season games with San Antonio and averaged 8.8 ppg. in 27.1 minpg.
In addition to his NBA career, Jackson has appeared in 154 games in the CBA with four different clubs, averaging 15.2 ppg., 4.6 rpg. and 2.8 apg. in 29.9 minpg. He played four years at Georgetown University.
