10-year NBA veteran brings defensive prowess to Orlando’s frontcourt

    Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic have signed free agent center Adonal Foyle, General Manager Otis Smith announced today. Per team policy, terms of the deal are not disclosed.

    “Adonal (Foyle) is a solid shot blocker and post defender,” said Smith. “His presence helps fortify our frontcourt, while bringing us veteran leadership.”

    Originally selected by Golden State in the first round (eighth overall) of the 1997 NBA Draft, Foyle (6’10”, 270, 3/9/75) has appeared in 641 regular season games during his 10-year NBA career, all with Golden State, averaging 4.4 ppg., 5.0 rpg. and 1.78 blkpg. in 19.1 minpg. Last season, he played in 48 games last season with the Warriors, averaging 2.2 ppg., 2.6 rpg. and 1.04 blkpg. in 10.0 minpg. Foyle was waived by Golden State on August 13.

    Foyle leaves Golden State as the franchise’s all-time leader in blocked shots with 1,140. He also ranks on the Warriors’ all-time list in offensive rebounds (1,221, 5th), defensive rebounds (2,006, 6th) and games played (641, 7th).
