Magic Honor Super Bowl Champion Kawika Mitchell

The Orlando Magic will honor Super Bowl Champion and Lake Howell High School standout Kawika Mitchell at halftime of Monday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The standout linebacker, who helped the New York Giants to the improbable Super Bowl upset of the New England Patriots will be presented with an autographed Magic team basketball by Nick Anderson in an on-court presentation.

After Mitchell starred at Lake Howell High School, he went on to play for the University of South Florida, before being drafted in the second round (47th overall) of the 2003 NFL Draft by the Kansas City Chiefs.

Mitchell played four seasons for Kansas City before signing as a free agent with the Giants. In 2007, Mitchell had 87 tackles (45 solo), 3.5 sacks and he scored two touchdowns. , the first on a 17-yard fumble return vs. Philadelphia on Sept. 30 and the second on a 20-yard interception return at Buffalo on Jan. 23. Mitchell was named the NFC Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in Buffalo. In addition to the interception touchdown, Mitchell had six tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble as the Giants clinched a playoff berth with their victory over the Bills.
