Magic 2003-04 Schedule Released

The National Basketball Association today released its 2003-04 schedule and announced the Orlando Magic will tip off its 15th anniversary season on Wednesday, October 29 at New York. The Magic will open the home schedule by hosting the New Orleans Hornets on Thursday, Oct. 30 at the TD Waterhouse Centre. Tip-off is 7 p.m.

    Season tickets ($10-$57 per game) are available now through the Orlando Magic Box Office at (407) 89-MAGIC. Single-game preseason tickets will go on sale in September, while individual regular season tickets will go on sale at a later date. Half season plans start as low as $368, lower level 15-game plans start at $645, and upper level 10-game plans start at $170. Two new plans this season include a Best of Both Plan, with 10 games in upper level and five games in lower level; also, a 15-game lower level Weekend Plan. Partial plan holders, like season ticket holders, have the ability to purchase additional tickets, including L.A. Lakers tickets, before they go on sale to the general public. Fans in Tampa/Lakeland can call the Magic’s regional ticket office toll free at 1-866-NBA-6442, while fans on the East Coast, from Daytona Beach to Melbourne, can call toll free at 1-888-811-4NBA.

    The Magic’s preseason schedule will be announced in the next few weeks. Orlando opens training camp on Sept. 30 at a site to be announced.     Orlando’s 2003-04 slate features 15 nationally televised games - two on ABC, five on TNT and eight on ESPN. Included is the Magic’s home game on Christmas Day against the Cleveland Cavaliers (ESPN, 2:30 p.m.). It marks the second straight year Orlando has hosted a game on Christmas Day and the fifth time they have played on December 25 in team history.

    The Magic’s over-the-air local and cable television schedules will be released in early August. Games will be televised by both the Magic Television Network and Sunshine Network. In Orlando, Magic Television Network broadcasts will air on the Magic’s flagship station, WRBW UPN-65.

    All games can be heard on the Magic Radio Network throughout the state of Florida and in Orlando on the Magic’s flagship station, Newstalk AM 580 WDBO. Every game will also be broadcast on Spanish radio (stations TBA).

    Each NBA team will play an 82-game regular season: 41 home and 41 away. The Magic will play 54 games vs. the Eastern Conference (24 games vs. the Atlantic Division and 30 games vs. the Central Division) and 28 games against the Western Conference (14 games vs. the Midwest Division and 14 games vs. the Pacific Division).

    Orlando will play two games in October (one home, one away), 14 games in November (eight home, six away), 16 games in December (seven home, nine away), 17 games in January (seven home, 10 away), 12 games in February (six home, six away), 15 games in March (nine home, six away) and six games in April (three home, three away).

    The 2003-04 Magic schedule features 20 back-to-back contests (40 games played on consecutive nights), one more set than last season. The most popular day of the week on the Magic schedule is Wednesday, where Orlando will play 20 games (10 home, 10 away).

    The Magic will enjoy a season-long five-game homestand twice (October 30-November 7 and March 24-April 2). Orlando’s longest road trip will take place from November 14-21, when they will play five straight games on the road.
