MANILA, May 6, 2005 -- The number one overall pick of the 2004 NBA Draft, forward Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic, forward Luke Walton of the L.A. Lakers and the Houston Rockets' Power Dancers will be the special guests of the NBA Madness event in Manila to be held June 2-5, the NBA announced today.
NBA Madness, the interactive basketball lifestyle event for fans of all ages, will celebrate its fifth anniversary by staging the biggest NBA fan event ever held in Manila, covering over 30,000 square feet of outdoor space at the Araneta Coliseum.
NBA Madness has been an fan extravaganza in the Philippines for the past four years, promoting basketball in a fun, carnival atmosphere through an endless variety of basketball activities. Beyond the Arches 3-Point Shootout presented by McDonald's -- The brand new event at NBA Madness will invite Metro Manila's best long-distance shooters to compete in individual and team competitions to see who can make shots from behind the arches.
NBA Mad Skillz presented by Coca-Cola -- Players can test their fundamental basketball skills through a series of authentic NBA drills to identify the Philippines most versatile basketball players.
Shoot for a Million presented by Coca-Cola -- Lucky participants may get a chance to shoot for $1 million! NBA Slam Dunk Competition presented by Solar Sports -- Contestants compete during the first three days with the best dunkers being invited back into the Finals on Sunday.
NBA Theater presented by Solar Sports -- Catch the hottest NBA Playoff games live on the big screen!
NBA Shooting Stars -- Fans can try their hand at one of the most popular events at NBA All-Star Saturday. Players take turns shooting from various spots on the floor. The team that can make all six shots in the fastest time wins.
NBA 3-on-3 -- Teams compete head-to-head for a chance to win a replica of the NBA trophy! Preliminary Rounds will be held from June 2-4, 2005 with the Finals on Sunday, June 5. There will be three divisions for boys and two divisions for girls.
NBA Basketball Celebrity Challenge -- NBA players, local players and celebrities to compete in a fun basketball game.
