“It looks like we’re playing Charlotte and that’s fine. I told you from day one that I don’t care who we play. I thought Charlotte would be the toughest team but just because they’re the toughest team doesn’t mean we’re not going to beat ‘em. Their ‘bigs’ are really nice and they’ve had some big games against us but Baron Davis has been the guy who’s hurt us and we’ve got to find a way of slowing him down. (Jamal) Mashburn, in those two games he’s been back, has hurt us also so as big as they are, their two smalls have been the ones who have hurt us.”
“If you’re going to play Charlotte you’d rather, in a crazy way, play the first two games there because they can’t build any momentum for their fans to show up. It will be interesting. If I lived in Charlotte I’d go because it’d be my last chance to maybe see professional basketball but they’re so upset at the team, I can’t tell you. Hell, maybe they’ll all come out and cheer for us. I think that would be terrific and matter of fact, if you’re listening in Charlotte, I think that’s what you should do.”
“It’s tough for us to play right now with so many guys banged up. We will do fine on Saturday night. Matter of fact, I’ll guarantee you that. That doesn’t mean we’re going to win or lose but the one thing we’re going to have is a great mental attitude.”
On Mike Miller playing in the next game: “My gut would be he (Mike Miller) will play, probably because it’s the playoffs. Now I can’t tell you how healthy he’s going to be.
On Tracy McGrady’s back injury: “It’s something eh’s going to have for the rest of his career and there’s nothing we can do about it. I’ve never seen a bad back go away and that’s something we’re going to have to deal with. He’s only 22 years old and that scares the heck out of me.”
