Diener to Host Summer Basketball Camp in Milwaukee
Milwaukee, WI (May 9, 2006) – Orlando Magic point guard Travis Diener will return to Milwaukee this summer where he spent four years as the floor general for Marquette to host his first annual Travis Diener Summer Basketball Camp at the school’s Al McGuire Center from August 4-8.
“I am excited to come back to Milwaukee this summer to hold my first annual summer basketball camp at Marquette,” said Diener. “It is great to come back to my community and work with the kids by teaching them about the game of basketball and life skills off the court.”
The week-long camp, for Boys and Girls ages 7-15, will focus on the fundamentals of basketball such as ball-handling, passing, shooting, dribbling, footwork, defense and rebounding. The week will also include special appearances by NBA players.
Diener was one of the top players throughout college, earning two All-Conference USA First Team selections, one Second Team selection as a sophomore and making the All-Freshman team in 2002. Most importantly, he led Marquette on a memorable run to the 2003 NCAA Final Four. Over his career, he shot 41% from three-point range, finished as the school’s career leader in three-point field goals made (284), second in assists (617), third in scoring (1,691 points) and eighth in steals (158).
He was the first player in C-USA history to lead the league in both scoring and assists. At Goodrich High School in Fond du Lac, Diener earned first-team all-state honors and was a fourth-team Parade All-American. Travis was selected in the second round of the 2005 NBA Draft by the Orlando Magic.
The Travis Diener Basketball Camp will cost $225 per camper. For more information, please visit www.travisdiener34.com or call the camp office at 800-434-4503.
