Courtside Chat with Danity Kane
At Wednesday night's home game against the Denver Nuggets, OrlandoMagic.com spotted the girls of Danity Kane sitting courtside. The group, who were put together by P. Diddy as part of MTV's Making the Band 3, had just returned from overseas where they were promoting their self titled album and stopped in for a little NBA action. We sent our celebrity insider, Mel Curtsinger, to find out the latest from the popular group.
So what are you guys doing in town?
D. Woods: “We have a show at Disney World on Friday and we just came back from Europe, so we are just kind of taking it easy until the show on Friday.”
What were you doing overseas?
D. Woods: “Promoting the album, promotions…”
Aundrea: “We dropped our album in Germany.”
You all have some major supporters here I hope you know…
Aundrea: “Because of (our manager) Johnny Wright of course!”
So you guys are just hanging out, enjoying the weather?
Aundrea: “Yes, it was cold overseas!”
Aubrey: “We had to come here and take off some clothes because it is so warm here!”
So are you guys Magic or NBA fans?
Aundrea: “Yes, we are Magic fans!”
Do you have any favorite players on the team?
D. Woods: “Turkoglu!”
Aubrey: “I like J.J. Redick!”
Aundrea: “Carlos Arroyo is hot! He had a great game.”
D. Woods: “For game purposes, Turkoglu is a great.”
What about Dwight Howard?
Dawn: “Dwight Howard is great! He is a good all-around player.”
D. Woods: “She likes Nelson!”
Dawn: “He is good – he was making a lot of the points there in the fourth quarter.”
So what has life been like since the show?
Aubrey: “Crazy!”
Aundrea: “It has really been non-stop. Just going, going, going. Lots of
promotions… we are getting to perform every single night, so we are
definitely living out our dreams right now.”
And you guys are going on tour soon, right?
D. Woods: “Yes! We are going with Christina Aguilera. We are very excited about that.”
So Shannon, you were an NBA dancer for the Portland Trail Blazers…
Shannon: “And Dawn!”
Really? Who did you dance for Dawn?
Dawn: “With the Hornets.”
So what is that like being back out on an NBA court?
Dawn: “We miss it!”
Shannon: “When they have all of those beats, I am over there doing poms in my head on the sideline.”
So do you know any of the Magic Dancers?
Shannon: “I actually don’t know any of the girls here, but we all went to Pro Dance…”
So you still know all the dancers you danced with in the NBA?
Dawn: “Yes, absolutely!”
And what can your fans expect from Danity Kane in the future?
Aubrey: “Everything! The WORLD! We are trying to do as much as possible at the end of this year. Coming up on the next year, we are definitely touring as much as possible – we have our new single “Ride For You” coming out and we have a Christmas song coming out in a week called “Home for Christmas” and we are just trying our best to get out there as much as possible.”
