Ace Hardware, in conjunction with the Orlando Magic, will honor one Magic player each month during the 2007-08 season as the Ace Hardware “Helpful Player of the Month.” Each selection will be based on their dedication to the Central Florida community and will exemplify Ace’s vision as “The Helpful Place.”
Adonal Foyle has been named the February Ace Hardware “Helpful Player of the Month” for his willingness to give back to the community. Shortly after arriving with the Magic, Foyle spoke to the families of the Dr. James R. Smith Neighborhood Center and helped unveil their newly refurbished computer lab. In addition to his efforts with the Magic, Foyle is also very active with his own charitable outreaches. His work with the Kerosene Lamp Foundation continues to grow, and on February 16, the foundation, in conjunction with several other groups, will unveil its first refurbished basketball court in New Orleans, La. Foyle is also the founder and president of Democracy Matters, an organization that gives college students a voice in the pro-democracy movement and an active role in the national dialogue on money in politics.
Foyle also continues his contributions in the off season, as the Adonal Foyle Summer Island Basketball Camp series has now reached over 1,000 youth of St. Vincent and the Grenadines during its four-year run. Along with the five island camps this past summer, Foyle also donated 250 pairs of new athletic shoes to the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Basketball Association, which organizes leagues in the region.
