TRAINING CAMP DAY 4 - Friday, October 6, 2006

It was great having some time off last night. I was able to relax, stay off my feet and go out and get some dinner for Grant's birthday. After that, it was back to the hotel for some more rest.

I think each and every day I'm learning more and becoming more comfortable here. And as time goes on, I know I'll get more and more comfortable and that's the main thing right now.

Besides a little soreness, I feel really good. Once you get out there and get the stiffness out, I'm good to go. But as far as me being run down or beat down, I think I'm doing pretty good.

In this last stretch here in Jacksonville I just want to keep pushing myself to the limit. I don't want to give up any or slack any, I just want to keep pushing...and stay healthy.

During our scrimmage today, Dwight and Jameer collided during a play and both got cuts on their heads. It's unfortunate that it happened, but it shows you how hard guys are playing out there. We are not going to slack up, we keep pushing each other. We are going at it like we're getting ready for these opponents we'll be facing. Just because it's getting deeper into training camp, guys aren't going to let up. Our two main guys bump heads in practice today and both need stitches. But they'll both get stitched up and be out here for practice tonight.

On Tuesday, we play our first preseason game in Charlotte. Last year at this time, I was in training camp with the Bobcats. It's going to be a lot of fun playing there. It's almost a reverse of last year. Last time it was me coming back to Orlando when I played for Charlotte. And now I'm back in Orlando and going back to Charlotte. But I think it's going to be fun getting back there. My main thing is to just keep learning and not really try to prove anything right now. I'm just going to continue to learn the system, do what coach expects me to do and give it 110 percent.

TRAINING CAMP DAY 3 - Thursday, October 5, 2006

My body is getting a little tired, but the good thing is that we only have one practice today. We all came in and worked really hard today, did a lot of 5-on-5 scrimmaging and I think we did good.

The great thing so far is that every guy out there is making everybody else work. Nobody's getting off the hook. And that's good, because as we go on it's going to get tougher and tougher and it's not going to be an easier.

Besides me and a few of the other new guys, everyone else already knows what is going on. But we are all coming together fast and that chemistry is already there. It's not going to take long for us to get there.

It's great having tonight off after a couple of really tough days. G. Hill's birthday is today, so I'm sure we'll all do something to celebrate - go to dinner or something. The main thing is to just relax, get off my feet for a little while. I'll maybe just watch some TV or something - that's about it.

These last few days of training camp I want to continue to push myself to the max, because that's what training camp is all about. I just want to continue to get better, learn more of the system and go as hard as I can. Because everything is going to start moving quick after training camp.

TRAINING CAMP DAY 2 - Wednesday, October 4, 2006

I feel good. Second day of training camp. I wasn't that sore this morning and I got out on the court and felt good. I think we had a good day overall as a team and made another step forward.

After yesterday's intense workouts, it didn't take long to fall asleep last night. I got back to the hotel and got some dinner and that was it. I didn't even turn the TV on in my room. I laid on the bed for a few minutes, made a few phone calls and went straight to sleep.

It's important to make sure you take care of yourself when you are out on the court for two-a-days like this. I got to make sure you drink plenty of fluids - water, gatorade. Of course, no junk - no fast food. You got to eat healthy. It's important that you put the right stuff in your body because that's the energy you are going to be using. This week, I'm eating stuff like pasta, rice, grilled fish, lasagne, salads and baked chicken.

I really love how competitive it is here. Nobody is letting anyone off the hook. Everybody is going at it on each and every drill. We are kind of beating each other up a bit, but that's what it's all about. We always say that once we get inside the lines that we are all enemies. But we got to play that way because we have to get ready for the other 29 teams that are doing the same thing.

Personally, I feel like it's still a learning process for me. I'm going to continue to go out and do what I always do - give 110 percent and pick up coach's system as fast as possible. When I'm not here, I'm always looking at his playbook - learning the terminology. But overall it's been a good first couple of days.

TRAINING CAMP DAY 1 - Tuesday, October 3, 2006

It was a great first day. A lot of hard work...A LOT of hard work. For me, the main thing is just continuing to learn coach's system and his terminology. But overall, I think this was a great first day of training camp.

In some regards, this training camp feels a lot like my rookie system all over again - just because I'm learning a new system. The past couple of years I went into training camp knowing what to expect because I'd been there. Right now, I'm just trying to do a lot of learning.

We've got a few hours break right now before we have to be back at the arena for our evening practice. I probably won't do much in between sessions. The first thing I'll do is get something to eat. After that, my thing is to lay down and take a nap, probably watch a little TV and then get ready to come back.

Throughout the week I'm sure we'll be doing some things to get to know each other better like a team dinner, stuff like that. The main thing right now is to just get some rest so you can prevent injuries, take care of your ailments, get iced down and get ready to come back and get focused for the second practice.

MEDIA DAY - Monday, October 2, 2006

What's up everyone. Thanks for reading my blog. I feel great being back in Orlando and can't wait for the season to start.

Today we had our Media Day at the Sportsplex. It's always a long, drawn out process each and every year with lots of photos, lots of videos and lots of interviews, but we got to do it, so it's cool.

I feel great. Going to training camp here in Orlando is almost like coming back home. I was very excited to get the opportunity to come back here and play and I've been looking forward to it since I signed to come back this summer and I can't wait.

The Magic team I was on before was a bad team - or at least it wasn't a very good team. This team is a young team and we got a lot to build on. Just watching the team last year, it's going to be an exciting year.

This training camp is important for me. I'm on a new team, so I have to learn all coach's system. I have to learn all the things that he wants. I know he wants hustle and effort, because that's a given. But just knowing all of his terminology for his offense and defense...that's the main thing right now.

I feel like my role on this year is going to be the guy that gets out on the floor and brings energy, takes charges and does all the little things to help the team win.

Most of the guys on the team I've had a chance to play with except for the rookies. I was here through training camp two years ago before I got traded, so there's a lot of guys that I got to play with. I haven't had a chance to play with Carlos, Darko, Trevor, Travis and the rookies. But everyone else I'm use to playing with.

The past few weeks have been a lot of fun during workouts. Coming in, hanging out with the guys and playing 5-on-5...getting up and down the floor and getting a feel for everyone's game again. That's always a lot of fun. I really can't wait until tomorrow.
