Training Camp Scrimmage - Day 5
By Matthew Gardner | October 7, 2006

After five days of intense, physical play in North Florida, the Orlando Magic wrapped up Training Camp on Saturday evening with its annual Team Scrimmage held at the University of North Florida Arena in Jacksonville.

Two teams consisting of six players each battled it out in front of the Jacksonville crowd. The team wearing the black practice jerseys consisted of Dwight Howard, Grant Hill, Keyon Dooling, Trevor Ariza, Jackie Manuel and Pat Garrity. The squad in the white jerseys included Keith Bogans, Kasib Powell, Darko Milicic, Travis Diener, James Augustine and Bo Outlaw.

When it was all said and done, the black squad walked away with the victory - posting a 60-47 win against their teammates.

Howard, wearing a bandage above his right eye from the stitches he received on Friday after colliding with teammate Jameer Nelson, scored 24 points, pulled down seven rebounds and had six blocks to pace the black squad. Howard's night included a 9-of-13 shooting performance from the field and 6-of-7 made from the charity stripe.

Hill and Dooling each chipped in with 10 points for the black squad, while Ariza added six points, Manuel scored seven and Garrity had five.

The white squad was led by Powell's 11 points on 5-of-11 shooting. Diener scored 10 points, which included two three-pointers while Bogans also had 10 points and Milicic finished with eight points, four boards and two blocks. Veteran Bo Outlaw added five points and rookie James Augustine scored four points.

Halftime Heave: With the buzzer about to sound at halftime, Bo Outlaw launched a shot from the opposite side of the court and hit nothing but net. The crowd went nuts and Bo celebrated the great shot with a little dance and plenty of high fives from his estatic teammates.

Injury Updates: Five players weren't available for Saturday's scrimmage due to injury/illness. J.J. Redick is still resting his left foot to mend the soft tissue tear, while Tony Battie was giving his sore right knee a break. Jameer Nelson, was collided with teammate Dwight Howard in Friday's morning practice and received nine stitches above his left eye, was feeling the affects of a mild concussion and sat out.

Also sidelined were Hedo Turkoglu, who has battled with the stomach flu since Wednesday morning and Carlos Arroyo, who has a sore right oblique.

Next Up: The team travels to Charlotte on Monday for Tuesday's preseason opener against the Charlotte Bobcats.
