Denton's Dish: The 5th Quarter (2/21/14)

Arron Afflalo, who switched to small forward in the new configuration of the Magic lineup, carried the team most of the game with his highly efficient play.

But Afflalo’s night ended on a sour note when he passed to Oladipo for a layup, but stepped on Raymond Felton’s foot. He ended up badly rolling his ankle and couldn’t play the final 2:23 of the game. Afflalo tried to stay in the game, but he was eventually sent to the locker room.

Afflalo was seen by doctors after the game and his availability for Sunday in Toronto is uncertain. Vaughn said after the game he fully expected the veteran guard/forward to travel with the team on the upcoming three-game roadtrip to Toronto, Washington and Philadelphia.

Afflalo made his first five shots and three 3-pointers in Friday to pace the Magic early on. For the game, he was highly efficient with 11 of 18 shooting and four of four on 3-point tries. He had 32 points – the fifth time this season that he’s topped the 30-point plateau.
