Denton: Vucevic Will Be Gametime Decision in Cleveland
Vucevic sprained the same ankle that he injured on Dec. 2 in Washington, D.C. when he accidentally stepped on a courtside photographer during a game. That injury cost him four games – all of which were losses for the Magic. During that stretch, Orlando was outrebounded 213-143. Vucevic leads the Magic in rebounding at 11.1 boards a game and he’s had 18 double-digit rebound games this season.
Vucevic said he was relieved that this ankle injury doesn’t seem to be as significant as the one that he suffered in early December. He went through a treatment session and stretching exercises during Thursday morning’s shoot around practice, but the final determination as to whether he plays tonight will come down to his pregame workout.
``It was a big relief. At first I thought it might be a pretty bad one with the way that it was hurting, but I guess with all of the icing that we did – I spent New Year’s icing – it was worth it,’’ Vucevic said. ``I woke up (Wednesday) morning and I was kind of hesitant to step on it and see how it feels. It was painful, but not as bad as I thought it would be. I’ll try it pregame and hopefully I can go.’’
