Vucevic made the Heat pay last season for going small and using Chris Bosh at center and LeBron James at power forward. He was especially effective on the offensive glass against the Heat, grabbing 11 offensive rebounds on Dec. 31, nine offensive boards on March 6 and one offensive rebound in late April.

The 7-foot, 240-pound Vucevic knows that he has to crash the boards especially hard when teams try to go small. He knows that he can’t let them off the hook by trying to use a power forward – especially one as finesse as Bosh – to guard him in the post.

``If they’ve got a smaller lineup out there I definitely have to try to take advantage of it in rebounding where I can get some offensive rebounds and I can control their defensive rebounding.’’
