He has been the preseason pick by many publications to win the NBA’s Rookie of the Year. And NBA GMs, the talent evaluators who best know the players from last summer’s NBA Draft, made him a landslide favorite to win the top rookie award with an 80 percent vote.

That’s all nice, he said, but this rookie season will ultimately be determined by how he handles the challenges before him and how he grows as a player. As Price warned him, he knows the intensity level is going up and it will be up to him to show that he belongs on the floor against some of the best point guards in the game.

``I think I’ve done pretty good so far, but I have to realize that we’re in the NBA and there are a lot of really good players here,’’ he said. ``It’s going to be hard to completely shut people down, but it will be my job to slow them down. I’m just looking forward to doing what I can because it’s about a learning process for me. I’m just looking forward to it all.’’
