Magic veteran shooting guard Arron Afflalo saw his most extensive playing time of the preseason and responded with 17 points. He hit three 3-pointers and handed out six assists. But what got Afflalo’s attention on this night was the Spurs scoring 36 transition points and 58 points in the paint.

``They’re a good transition offensive team and they led the league in points (last season). They take the ball out quick, they have a lot of shooters and they space the floor,’’ Afflalo said. ``We just have to do a better job of balancing our ability to get back. That responsibility falls on the guards as well as the bigs.’’

Rookie Victor Oladipo started poorly with turnover troubles, but he bounced back with 22 points, five rebounds and six assists. Jason Maxiell was a bright spot in the inside with 16 points and six rebounds, while Maurice Harkless finished strong with 14 points. O’Quinn chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.

The Magic entered Tuesday’s game holding foes to 40.7 percent shooting this preseason. And they were coming off their finest defensive effort of the exhibition season on Sunday when they smothered the Detroit Pistons for three quarters and swiped 16 steals.
