Orlando did a good job of clogging the lane against former Magic center and current Rockets star Dwight Howard, holding him to eight points and four rebounds in a half of work. He missed four of his six shots against the hard-nosed defense of Magic 7-footer Nikola Vucevic.

``I tried to be physical and I thought I did a pretty good job,’’ said Vucevic, who had six points and seven rebounds, but also five fouls in 20 minutes.

``Obviously it’s hard to stop (Howard) because they run a lot of plays for him. I thought defensively I was there for my team.’’

Houston (3-1), which was playing its first game following a NBA promotional trip to Taiwan and Philippines, rested James Harden and Howard in the second half. Harden had 21 points and four 3-pointers. The Rockets made 15 3-pointers – 11 of them coming in the first half.

Magic guard Arron Afflalo, back after not playing Monday in Dallas, scored 13 points in 23 minutes of action. Andrew Nicholson, who started in place of O’Quinn so that he could guard Houston’s Omri Casspi, had 15 points and three 3-pointers, while Maurice Harkless chipped in another 10 points.
