Down 47-41 at the half, New Orleans surged ahead by 13 points by attacking the Magic on the offensive end. In addition to frustrating the Magic with his defensive length, Davis scored 15 points in the third period alone.
Oladipo checked into the game with 5:38 left in the first quarter and wasted no time making an incredible impact on the game. On his first offensive possession, he drove hard down the right side of the lane, drew the defense and dished to Andrew Nicholson for a dunk.
Seconds later, Oladipo was setting up offense again with his passing creativity. He somehow found an opening between two defenders and whipped a left-handed pass to Maxiell, who dunked with authority.
``When you watch (Oladipo) you will get a sense of him having a real good feel for the game of basketball,’’ Vaughn said. ``He’s going to continue to learn and he’ll be put in situations which he hasn’t been in before, which is good for him. He’ll grow from it and guys will enjoy playing with him. Overall, a pretty good first night.’’
