Denton: Magic vs. Mavs Analysis (11/16/13)

The Magic started the game off well, but their early lead was wiped out by a rash of careless turnovers. The sloppy passing and some defensive gaffes left Orlando being in a 59-46 hole at the intermission.

Dallas carved up the Magic to the tune of 54.2 percent in the first two quarters to build a lead as large as 15 points. Thirty of their points early in the game came in the paint and 17 came off fastbreaks.

Orlando had issues on the offensive end as well, turning the ball 10 times in the first half. Oladipo had four turnovers in 10 first-half minutes. Power forward Andrew Nicholson also turned the ball over three times. Those Magic errors resulted in 15 points in the first half for Dallas.

Oladipo seemed to take the loss especially hard, sitting at his locker with a towel draped over his head for some 15 minutes. His wide, toothy smile was absent was expressed a sentiment that he had let his teammates down in a winnable game.

``I’ve really just got to watch the film and see what happened and make an effort to change stuff, whether it be slowing down or getting different looks. I have to learn from it,’’ he said. ``It’s just tough sometimes because at the end of the day you just want to win. You want the best for yourself and your team, so it’s just tough. I just have to keep learning and keep grinding.’’
