Orlando led 52-48 at the half after squandering much of a 20-point lead built in the game’s opening minutes. The Magic moved the ball well with 13 assists on their 20 field goals, shot 50 percent and made six 3-pointers.
Oladipo and Harris battered the Mavs with their inside-outside attack in the first half. Oladipo attacked off the dribble, repeatedly getting to the rim for 12 first-half points. Harris opened the game with a 3-pointer and poured in 11 points in the first two quarters.
Nowitzki cross-matched against Orlando’s Vucevic in Monday’s first half and got the best of the Magic center. Nowitzki made six of his first nine shots and got to the free throw line three times for 16 first-half points. The Magic got off to a scorching start and led 30-10 after Oladipo converting a driving layup. Four different players hit 3-pointers in the first quarter and Orlando had nine assists on its first 11 field goals.
Vaughn was ecstatic over how some of the players who had yet to see game action, such as Jones and Gladness, responded on Monday night.
``I think they both did some really good things. Mickell protected the rim for us and protected his teammates when the ball got into the paint and Solomon was just really solid for us,’’ Vaughn said. ``Both of them had really good nights.’’
