Point guard Jameer Nelson had six points and six assists, but he missed six of his seven shots. Kyle O’Quinn added 12 points, five rebounds and two blocks off the bench.

Former Magic first-round pick Mike Miller, now with Memphis after being an amnesty provision cut by the Miami Heat, scored 19 points and drilled three 3-pointers. Promising young forward Ed Davis chipped in 16 points and 10 rebounds, while Gasol had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in 26 minutes.

The Magic (1-4) were once again without high-scoring forward Tobias Harris because of a tender ankle. Magic coach Jacque Vaughn said that Harris, who tweaked his ankle in practice on Tuesday, could have played Friday night if needed.

Orlando will be back at the Amway Center on Sunday night when it hosts the Detroit Pistons at 6 p.m.
