Denton: Magic vs. Cavaliers Analysis (12/13/13)
Magic rookie Victor Oladipo had a dazzling game in the works by scoring 22 points through the first three quarters, but he went to the bench at the start of the fourth quarter and didn’t return until there was slightly more than 6 minutes left. He made all five of his shots in the third quarter.
Oladipo had just two baskets the rest of the way and tied his career high with 26 points. He made nine of 13 shots and three of four 3-pointers.
``Toward the end of the game they hits shots and we missed shots that we normally make,’’ Oladipo said. ``We have to learn to come out and get good starts in every quarter. We have to watch film and learn from this.’’
Point guard Jameer Nelson hit three 3-pointers and scored 17 points, while Arron Afflalo chipped in 17 points. Magic center Nikola Vucevic and Davis got few looks in the post all night and finished with six points apiece. Vucevic did grab 13 rebounds.
Orlando led 85-81 with 8:23 to play following a 3-pointer by Harris (10 points and five rebounds in 15 minutes). But the game turned when Waiters made three straight shots to ignite the 14-0 Cleveland run to put Orlando into a 95-85 hole.
