Arron Afflalo and Nikola Vucevic carried the Magic throughout Wednesday’s hard-fought loss and vowed afterward that the team is vastly improved over the one that won just 20 times last year. Afflalo had 28 points on Wednesday, but missed a potential game-winning shot from the baseline at the end of regulation. And Vucevic bounced back from a rough first game against Indiana’s Roy Hibbert with 22 points, 16 rebounds, three blocked shots and three assists.

``I think (Friday night) will be a lot of fun because we will have a lot of fans and we’ll want to get a win for our fans,’’ Vucevic said. ``We’ll all get some rest and be ready for another big game.’’

Added power forward Solomon Jones, who played big minutes for the Magic on Wednesday night: ``We know that we can compete and we are right there with these teams. We just have to learn from our mistakes. We have 80 more to go and we have to learn from this. Now we have to go home and protect our home court on Friday.’’
