Debating Lottery Scenarios
Cohen 8-Ball: This or That
OrlandoMagic.com’s Josh Cohen opens up a debate on intriguing topics on the Magic and the entire NBA.
The Orlando Magic will have two lottery draft picks this year – one their own that has a 15.6 percent chance of landing in the first overall slot and the other either coming from Denver or New York (least favorable) via the Dwight Howard trade.
While it’s extremely likely the “second” pick will be positioned at No. 12 – unless both the Nuggets and Knicks’ spots move into the top three – it’s enthralling to envision a scenario where the improbable did indeed ensue.
Hypothetically, would it be more beneficial for the Magic to secure the first overall pick and the 12th selection or end up with the third pick (which in this instance would be Denver or New York’s pick) and the fifth pick (which stands at 26.5 percent chance of happening)?
