Orlando Magic And Sun Sports/FSN Florida Team Up For Free Throws For The Future
Jameer Nelson to shoot free throws postgame on March 8 for the initiative
Orlando, FL – The Orlando Magic and Sun Sports/FSN Florida are teaming up during the month of March for the second annual Free Throws for the Future program, which gives Orlando Magic fans an array of opportunities to donate money to the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation. The month-long initiative is highlighted by up to 250 fans having the opportunity to shoot free throws on the court postgame with Orlando Magic guard Jameer Nelson following the Golden State Warriors game on March 8, 2008 for a $20 donation at Amway Arena the day of the game.
In addition to the postgame event on March 8, fans will also have the opportunity to shoot free throws before every Orlando Magic home game in March at the Fan Fest located outside Amway Arena. A prize is awarded to everyone who participates, with all donations benefiting the Orlando Magic Youth Foundation. Orlando’s NBA franchise since 1989, the Magic annually gives more than $2 million to the local community by way of sponsorships of events, donated tickets, autographed merchandise, scholarships and grants. Orlando Magic community relations programming impact an estimated 75,000 kids annually. Over the last 18 years, nearly $14 million has been raised and distributed to local non-profit community organizations via The Orlando Magic Youth Foundation. OMYF, a fund of the McCormick Tribune Foundation, focuses on helping every child in Central Florida realize their full potential, especially those most at risk, by supporting programs and partnerships that empower families and change lives. Ticket highlights for 2007-08 include: a franchise-most 8,417 seats priced $25 or under per game, a $25 lower bowl ticket, and for the 10th straight year, tickets priced at $10 per game.
