Magic Players/Staff Team Up with KaBoom! to Build Playground
--Dwight Howard and Carlos Arroyo to lend a helping hand in KaBOOM! playground build--
Dwight Howard, Carlos Arroyo and more than 150 other volunteers from the Orlando Magic, the Central Florida Leased Housing Corp., organizers from KaBOOM! and residents of the Winter Park community will join forces on March 7 to build a new, safe playground at the Santa Barbara Apartments. Ace Hardware, Dunkin Donuts, Papa John’s, Gatorade, Pepsi and Hard Rock will also assist in the day.
The new playground’s design is based on drawings provided by children who attended a design day event in December. Along with the Magic and KaBoom! Ace Hardware, Dunkin Donuts, Papa John’s, Gatorade, Pepsi and Hard Rock each recorded an assist with the event.
Building will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at approximately 2:30 p.m.
The new playground will provide hundreds of children from the Santa Barbara Apartments and the surrounding Winter Park community with a safe place to play.
The play space is the second built by KaBOOM! and the Magic, the third by KaBOOM! and Central Florida Leased Housing Corp. and one of more than 225 KaBOOM! will lead across the country in 2008 in an effort to provide a great place to play within walking distance of every child in America.
