Cohen: It Would Make Sense If...

2 of 5 TRY AND SECURE REDICK LONG TERM?

Cohen's Analysis: It’s no fluke and there is not much doubt any longer, J.J. Redick has evolved into one of the more dynamic and reliable players in the league.

There was a ton of chatter before the season began that perhaps Redick would be traded by the deadline considering he will be an unrestricted free agent in the summer and his value could net multiple assets for the Magic to proceed with this rebuild.

However, it would make sense for Orlando to commit to Redick for the season and hope to persuade him to remain in blue and white when he signs his next contract.

It’s intricate at this stage to properly measure what the price tag for Redick will be. It’s also undetermined whether J.J. wants to remain with the Magic once he is a free agent. There will certainly be a plethora of teams interested in him.

Unless there are alternatives that would support the Magic’s quest to reestablish championship potential, Redick sure appears to be a foundational piece to grow with.
