Cohen's Analysis: The Hawks are the real deal. Everyone assumed after trading Joe Johnson over the summer that Atlanta would be in a renovation.
But the combination of a healthy Al Horford, a motivated Josh Smith and the acquisitions of several valuable role players, including Lou Williams, Kyle Korver and Devin Harris, has lifted the Hawks to new heights.
While they aren’t equipped to beat a powerhouse like the Heat, the Hawks have a chance to be Miami’s conference final opponent this season. If I had to forecast what will happen in May, I still think Brooklyn is destined to play Miami for the right to play in the Finals. But any more injury concerns with Brook Lopez and I may shift my attention to Atlanta.
