2014 NBA Draft Influence

Cohen’s Analysis: Overhyped or not, next year’s draft class is having a considerable impact on decisions several teams are making. If you paid attention to some of the architectural moves this past summer, it was apparent that general managers are willing to be patient for a chance to land a big prize in next year’s draft.

Don’t be surprised if teams opt to trade some of their top players in an effort to acquire draft picks. As one league executive told me a few months ago, this draft class is so loaded that teams may prefer to be toward the bottom of the standings as opposed to the middle of the pack this year.
