Cohen's Analysis: You can argue that no player meant more to one franchise in any sport in the early part of this century than Allen Iverson’s commitment and significance to the Philadelphia 76ers.

Iverson was the NBA’s most electrifying player over a span of a few years, particularly when he earned MVP honors in 2001 and guided the Sixers to the NBA Finals.

After the team started spiraling backwards, however, Iverson was traded to Denver in late 2006. But it was apparent that his heart was left in Philadelphia. And when the opportunity arose for the beloved superstar to return to the Sixers, he welcomed the concept and indeed rejoined the team in 2009.

All I can tell you is that I was sitting next to someone who was from Philly during AI’s first game back and he was beyond emotional. It just showed how much of a connection Philly supporters had with Iverson.
