Cohen 8-Ball: Ranking 2013-14 Best Power Forwards

#7 Derrick Favors

Cohen’s Analysis: There were legitimate reasons why the Jazz targeted Favors when they dealt Deron Williams to the Nets in 2011, why they felt it was best to not try and re-sign Al Jefferson or Paul Millsap and why they decided to give the blossoming forward a four-year $49 million contract extension last month.

Favors’ playing time has been limited in his first few years in the NBA, which explains his incomplete production. But bear in mind, he averaged about 14 points and 11 rebounds per 36 minutes in each of the past two seasons and with him now the focal point of Utah’s unhurried half-court offense, those numbers will sky-rocket in 2013-14.
