Cohen’s Analysis: If you ask people in Memphis if they regret the decision to trade Love’s draft rights to Minnesota as part of a blockbuster multiplayer deal in 2008, they say absolutely not. In the trade, the Grizzlies acquired OJ Mayo, who was a very productive role player in his years in Memphis, and they were able to swing a deal for Zach Randolph a year later to fill the power forward spot.

But let’s be realistic, if they could re-assess the decision, the Grizzlies would have kept Love and teamed him up with Marc Gasol and Mike Conley. Sure, Randolph has had his best years in Memphis, but he doesn’t have the ceiling that Love does.
