Cohen’s Analysis: To this day people still compare the careers of Webber and Penny Hardaway. They were traded for each other on draft night in 1993 and never were at the top of their games simultaneously. Penny’s best days were in his first few years in Orlando where he helped guide the Magic to the NBA Finals in 1995, while Webber began to find his rhythm in the early part of this century with the Kings.

Regardless, it’s fascinating to imagine what the Magic would have looked like if Shaquille O’Neal and Webber played alongside each other. Would they have interfered with one another or been perfect complements? Hard to say, but importantly the Shaq-Penny tandem was extremely effective in the few seasons they were together.
