Cohen’s Analysis: Though Kevin Garnett started the popular decade-long trend one year earlier, Kobe Bryant’s decision to skip college and enter the NBA Draft was a daring decision. While he was superb for all four years at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania, surpassing Wilt Chamberlain and Lionel Simmons as Southeastern PA’s all-time leading scorer, critics figured Kobe would be swallowed up by the NBA’s physical play.

Approaching 20 years later, it’s apparent that Bryant didn’t necessarily need college experience to transform into an all-time NBA great. But if he had gone to college, Kobe would have played for….
