CHOICE A: Your team is rebuilding and you have an opportunity to sign a marquee free agent to a big contract in the upcoming summer that will inevitably make the team better. This FA, however, is considered in the B class as opposed to the A class and will make the team a legitimate playoff team but probably not a title contender

CHOICE B: Your team is rebuilding and passes on a marquee free agent, which inevitably forces the team to contend with another “bad” season to try and rack up another high draft pick that following year.

Cohen’s Analysis: I almost always would stay away from signing “B” talent to mega contracts because it often disallows teams from having flexibility to try and take additional steps to winning a championship. While it requires a ton of patience and tolerance, Choice B is worth it in the long run.
