The Oklahoma City Thunder will receive the Dallas Mavericks’ First Round pick IF it is outside the top 20. If the Mavs are slotted anywhere between 1 and 20, then the stipulation will carry over to 2015, 2016 or 2017. It becomes an unprotected pick in 2018 if Dallas continues to pick inside the top 20 in those aforementioned years.

HOW IT HAPPENED: This draft pick has been incorporated in three different trades, starting with the Lamar Odom deal in 2011 when he was sent to Dallas and ultimately carrying over to OKC as part of the James Harden trade in 2012.

ANALYSIS: It seems very unlikely that this pick will make it all the way to 2018 when it becomes unprotected. Therefore, this transaction will probably never become that significant.
