The Boston Celtics will receive the less favorable First Round draft slot between the Atlanta Hawks and Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics also get the Nets’ First Round unprotected picks in 2016 and 2018.

HOW IT HAPPENED: It was agreed to as part of the Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce trade. While Brooklyn received KG, Pierce and Jason Terry, Boston landed matching contracts (ex. Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries) and an assemblage of potentially rewarding future draft picks.

ANALYSIS: Danny Ainge was incessantly criticized for this move, mostly because everyone assumed Brooklyn’s draft slots would be late in the First Round every year. But as things have unfolded disastrously in Brooklyn, those picks could prove to be very gratifying for Boston.
