Cohen’s Analysis: Philadelphia would love to press the fast forward button. It wants no part of this upcoming season. But like it is for any franchise starting from scratch, it must accept auto growing pains and suffering.

Deciding to trade Jrue Holiday on draft night for an injury-plagued prodigy, Nerlens Noel, and not trailing Andrew Bynum in free agency suggests they are positioning for next year’s loaded draft class.

If they hit the jackpot next May in the lottery, they can pretend this upcoming season never happened.
