Raptors Buyers or Sellers?
Josh Cohen’s Analysis (Jan. 20, 2014): When the Raptors traded Rudy Gay in December the intention was to commence another overhaul. However, the subtraction of Gay seemed to infuse an unanticipated spark in Toronto.
With the Raptors in first place in the meager Atlantic Division and with chemistry developing rapidly amongst their core nucleus, GM Masai Ujiri needs to explore adding a piece or two by the trade deadline to secure a division title and home court advantage in the First Round of the playoffs.
Even if Toronto decided to sell off DeMar DeRozan or Kyle Lowry, it would probably be too late in the season to accomplish any meaningful purpose. That is unless an opposing team was willing to surrender unprotected draft picks, particularly for this upcoming draft.
