Originally committed to play college basketball at Indiana but obtained his release from his letter of intent after head coach Kelvin Sampson’s departure from the program.

Named to the All-Big East Third Team as a sophomore. Selected to the Big East All-Rookie and All-Tournament team as a freshman. His 273 rebounds were the second most in school history by a freshman. One of 30 high school players to be invited to the USA Basketball Development Festival in 2007 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. Averaged 28.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
