It’s rare to have multiple off-days in a row during the NBA season, but Pau Gasol took advantage of a scheduling quirk that left the Lakers idle from Sunday-Thursday. With coach D’Antoni giving the players Monday and Tuesday off, Gasol headed two hours east to see fellow Spaniard Rafael Nadal compete at the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells. Voices In The News
Following the Lakers 119-85 loss at San Antonio, coach Mike D'Antoni and some of the players addressed the media:
Mike D'Antoni on the game:
“They just took it to us. To be able to guard them, you have to make multiple efforts. It might be eight times you have to stop something in the half court. They are going to keep moving the ball until they find something good. We just did not have the intensity or wherewithal to hang in there. They carved us up pretty good."
Pau Gasol on what the team can do to improve against this same Spurs team on Wednesday at home:
“We can try to be a little more selfless on both ends of the floor. We can try to put together multiple efforts. We can try to watch some tape of how San Antonio plays and try to emulate them a little bit. We can try to get to the paint and make a play, a pass, keep the ball moving, find the open guy, not force stuff, not try to win it on your own.”

Jodie Meeks went 14 for 14 from the free throw line, the most by a Laker without a miss since Kobe Bryant went 18 for 18 on Apr. 10, 2013 at Portland. Meeks fell two makes shy of the NBA record this season for makes without a miss (16, by Carmelo Anthony and James Harden).
