EL SEGUNDO, Calif., July 18 -- The Los Angeles Lakers have reached an agreement with free agent forward Devean George, it was announced today.

Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not released.

During the 2001-02 season, George averaged career-highs in points (7.1), rebounds (3.7) and assists (1.4) and was one of three players to appear in each of the Lakers 82 regular season games.

A three-year veteran, George became the first-ever Division III player to be selected in the first round of the NBA Draft after the Lakers selected him with the 23rd overall pick in the 1999 NBA Draft out of Augsburg College.

George also became only the seventh player to win an NBA Championship in each of his first three seasons in the NBA.
