Chick Hearn, 1916-2002
From Elgin to Magic to Shaq, and through nine championships, Chick Hearn provided play-by-play for the Lakers' entire 42-year history in Los Angeles. The beloved announcer, who called 3,338 consecutive Lakers games, died Aug. 5 at age 85. The Hall of Famer is widely credited with introducing terms such as "slam dunk" and "airball."
