Randle Named Drew League Player of the Week

Just a quick trip down the 105 from the Lakers’ practice facility, Julius Randle put in some work in a different setting on Sunday.

Randle was named Drew League Player of the Week after racking up 28 points and 18 rebounds in a must-win match for M.H.P.’s playoff chances.

Randle’s performance was littered with the and-1 buckets and one-man fast-breaks that Lakers fans have come to expect from the 22-year-old.

On the defensive end, he also had a couple of highlight swats.

The Drew League has long been a hotbed for NBA players looking to play competitive ball over the summer. Randle’s teammates on Sunday included former Laker Nick Young and Compton native DeMar DeRozan.

In the past, Lakers like Kobe Bryant, Metta World Peace and Michael Cooper have all spent some time on the Drew hardwood.

Randle’s appearance was his third at the Drew League this year.

It’s been a busy summer for Randle, who went up to Las Vegas to watch the Lakers’ Summer League team’s march to the championship. Last week he also returned to the University of Kentucky to hold a basketball camp for local kids.
