Brewer's High School Names Court After Him

Born and raised in Portland, Tennessee, Corey Brewer hasn’t forgotten his hometown, and now it will certainly never forget him.

On Saturday, Brewer’s alma mater, Portland High, unveiled the its new basketball floor as “Corey Brewer Court.”

Brewer used a giant pair of gold scissors at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, which was held in between sessions of his Corey Brewer Portland Basketball Camp. Around 250 kids aged 8-15 attended the camp, which Brewer held for free, according to the Sumner County website.

Brewer starred for the Panthers in his youth, leading Portland High to the Tennessee state semifinals as a junior.

After averaging 29.4 points and 12.8 rebounds in his senior season, the current Laker was named 2004 Class AA Tennessee Mr. Basketball, as well as a McDonald’s All-American.
